Communication Chair

Purpose of communication chair and committee: The purpose of the communication chair and committee is to promote equity, inclusion, and improvement through effective communication strategies and skills, internally and externally, in an effort to help GPSA actualize its goals of providing awareness of educational services, programs and events, grants and scholarships, and advocacy for professional and graduate students at UNM.

Duties of the communication chair and committee:

External communication.

  • Create and disseminate promotional materials in print and online, including on social media.
  • Act as the spokesperson for GPSA with the Daily Lobo and any other news media.
  • Implement strategies for cooperation between GPSA and current or potential partnerships, e.g. Satellite Coffee.
  • Assist in promoting GPSA through orientation programs
  • Create and/or update orientation videos or scripts.

Internal communication.
  • Conduct semester surveys that gather feedback data from GPSA personnel, council representatives.
  • Council representatives will be asked to glean feedback from their constituents and report back in this survey.
  • Act as a mediator for any conflict management needed between GPSA personnel.
  • Can provide resources for mediation or conflict resolution if parties are not comfortable resolving with the chair or a committee member.
  • Create and/or update training videos or scripts for incoming GPSA personnel.
